Who Will Win The Presidents' Trophy?

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are just 15 days away, and while some teams are jockeying for the final few spots in order to get into the postseason there are four teams that are fighting for the NHL's Presidents' Trophy, given annually to the team with the league's best record.

The St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers have all reached the 100 point plateau and  have shown no signs of slowing down as the regular season nears its end. Here is a look at what is standing between each team and the league's top spot.

Red Wings Clinch Playoff Spot, Rout Blue Jackets

The Red Wings have clinched their 21st staright trip to the playoffs and they did so in dominating fashion, with a 7-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. At the final buzzer, 11 different Red Wings registered at least one point, while Henrik Zetterburg and Todd Bertuzzi lead the way four points each.

Of the seven goals scored by the Wings, several demonstrated the  passing skills possessed by the Red Wings. Goals included everything from no look passes to between the leg drop passes. Here is the best of them.

The Kings Have Found Their Offense

Many had lost faith. Few believed it could be down. In what? The Kings offense and their ability to find the back of the net.

It became a common occurrence for the Kings' defense and goaltender, Jonathan Quick, to anchor the team and allow one maybe two goals and the Kings still not have a shot at the win because they could not light the lamp.

Oh how things have changed.

Video: Niklas Kronwall Destroys Jakub Voracek

There is that hit every season, a hit where every player but the skater who is about to get destroyed sees it coming. That hit come earlier tonight, when Jakub Voracek of the Philadelphia Flyers skated up the side boards while reaching behind him to catch the puck.

That moment would cause any defenseman's eyes to light up. Which I'm sure happened to Kronwall when Voracek skated from the top of the face-off circle to about five feet inside the blue line with his head down. Here's the video.

It is no surprise that Voracek needed help off the ice. Voracek may miss some time because that hit had viscous power and would not surprise me if it leads to a concussion. Kronwall was not penalized on the play and will not face any suspension time because of the hit.

That was hitting 101, shoulder down, elbow tucked and an explosion through the opposing player. It unfortunate for Voracek that he had to be the lab rat for this presentation.

The Jets Will Have To Win On The Road If They Want A Division Title

The Winnipeg Jets entered the season with high hopes and the fan support that was not apparent in their former home down south. That crowd support has breathed life into the Jets and rallied a team that now finds itself in the eight and final playoff spot, and only two points behind the division leading, Florida Panthers.

The Jets beat the Buffalo Sabres, who are making a push for the playoffs themselves, on Monday pushing them three points ahead of the ninth place, Washington Capitals. In a nationally televised game, it was apparent how intimidating Winnipeg's MTS Centre, where the Jets sport a record of 21-10-4, can be.

Video: Bobby Ryan's Falling Backhander

During the Anaheim Ducks' 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers earlier tonight, several things happened. Corey Perry netted career goal number 200, Teemu Selanne tied Ducks legend Jari Kurri, and Bobby Ryan scored one of the prettiest breakaway goals of the season.

Selanne picked up the puck along the right boards and gave Ryan the home run pass. After receiving the pass, Ryan streaked in and was tripped towards the end of his deke, but was able to get the backhand shot off and past Oilers' goalie, Nikolai Khabibulin.

This Day In NHL History: Sens And Flyers Get Physical

On this day eight years ago, the Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators set the NHL record with 419 combined penalty minutes in a single game. All but 22 minutes of that time came with under two minutes to play in the third period.
