Kings Will Raise Stanley Cup Banner Against The Rangers

It's a jam packed week of activities for the NHL. The NHL Awards Show was last night, and the League will welcome it's newest batch of talent tomorrow night when the NHL Draft gets underway. But they managed to squeeze one more headline in this week, when the 2012-2013 regular season schedule was released earlier today.

The season is set to kickoff on Oct. 11. But the game most will be looking forward too, at least the majority of Southern California, will take place on the second day of the season, when the Los Angeles Kings take on the New York Rangers.

That will be the day the Kings' organization has waited for for the last 45 years. It will be the day the the Kings will raise their first Stanley Cup Champions banner to the rafters of the Staples Center.

Who knows, maybe Quick will cross paths with Lundqvist at some point in the game and point to the rafters and say, "Look, I got the one that matters."

An interesting note about the rest of the Kings' schedule, they only face the New Jersey Devils, the team they eliminated to win the Stanley Cup, once next season, Feb. 9 in Newark.
