July-lights: July 1st, Burmistrov Dazzles Against Washington

Welcome to "July-lights" ladies and gentlemen. A month long event where every day through out the month of July a new highlight of the 2010-2011 NHL season will be posted. Whether it be a jaw dropping save, an amazing dangle, or a bone crushing hit, if it is worthy, the highlight will make the blog.

Also feel free to suggest a play for the list, you can do so by commenting below, sending an email to, or by tweeting me (@_iRoberts) on Twitter.

Drafted 8th overall by the late Atlanta Thrashers, now Winnipeg Jets, Alexander Burmistrov came into the league at just 19 years old, playing 74 games, grabbing six goals and 14 assists in 2010-2011, his rookie season.

One of those six goals came in dazzeling fashion in a 5-0 win against the Wahington Capitals on Friday, November 19th. Burmistrov picked up a drop pass from teammate Andrew Ladd, walked around Capitals' defensemen, Jeff Schultz, and then dangled goalie Michal Neuvirth moving behind the goal line, then reaching back in front of the net and jamming home the goal (see below).
