July-lights: July 18th, Howard Steals One From Sedin

Jimmy Howard made his first appearance in a Red Wings jersey in the '05-'06 season, where he played in four games, winning only one game and posted a goals against average just under 3.00. Over the next few seasons he would only appear in five more games for the Red Wings. Until his number was called during the '09-'10 season.

In recent seasons Detroit Red Wings' goaltender, Jimmy Howard, has solidified his spot as the team's number one goaltender. He has posted back-to-back 37 win seasons, while winning 12 playoff games over the last two seasons.

Some say it was the extra time in the Red Wings' farm system that allowed Howard to develop into such a dominating goaltender. Without out that time to develop, maybe Howard would not have been able to make this amazing save on Daniel Sedin.

Daniel Sedin received a pass from brother Henrik and skated in on Howard. Sedin cut across the crease and seemed to have Howard beat. Sedin pulled the puck to his backhand where he had a wide open net until Howard fell back and got his glove on the puck.

Well at least Sedin can forget about this robbery, seeing he dominated in the Stanley Cup Finals and won the Conn.... Oh, wait. Nevermind.
